Sooraj Barjatya on Vivaah’s ‘Jal Lijiye’ meme
In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Sooraj Barjatya talks about the viral meme from Vivvah. He said, “Jab maine scene likkha tha tabh log mujhe bola tha ki aisa kaun bolta hai toh maine kaha bhale hi bolta nahi hoga par agar koi bole toh meetha lagega ki nahi? Toh bole accha toh lagega lekin bolega kaun, aise maine bola chodo jaane do. But again credit to Amrita, she did it toh dekhe kya hota hai ki saamne trust ki utni hi value hai kyuki trust and she did it.” ( “When I wrote the scene, people told me, ‘Who talks like this?’ So I said, ‘Maybe no one does, but if someone did, wouldn’t it sound sweet?’ They agreed it would sound nice but questioned who would actually say it. So I said, ‘Forget it, let it go.’ But again, credit goes to Amrita—she did it. This shows that trust holds just as much value on the other side because of trust, and she did it.”)
When asked about his favorite film among the ones he has directed he said, “Maine banayi bohot kam hai, 7 filme hi banayi hai but, as a director, joh meri Vivaah haina sabsi favourite hai because woh ek aisi film hai which is actually core my life, core my way of thinking, it’s like a proper Sharadchand Ji ki short story aur woh ek film hai meri hai joh maine banayi jiske pehele meri ek film nahi chali, toh jab aadmi thode failure se guzarta ke phir wapis aane ki koshish karta hai toh woh joh ek stage hai woh…. isliye VIvaah bohot precious hai mujhe.” (I’ve made only seven films, but as a director, Vivaah is my favorite. It reflects my core beliefs and feels like a Sharadchandra Ji short story. The film is especially precious to me because I made it after a failure, making my comeback journey even more meaningful.)
